Islam Claims God Makes Mistakes

UI – Part 319 – Islam Claims God Makes Mistakes

God Makes Mistakes?

This is a simple commentary.  When Muslims claim the Quran is the corrected copy of the Word of God does that not raise questions for you too.  Why would God, perfect and divine, make a mistake?  How would God err?  Is the Muslim Allah the same as the Biblical God?

People/Humans Sin

We are all sinful people.  That is a known fact.  Muslims claim they were not born with original sin. I believe the Jews see it that way also. But the Muslims admit they are weak, easily tempted and readily succumb. So they too are sinners.  The event in the Garden of Eden changed things for Christians as the two adults disobeyed God, their purity was thus invaded with a sinful heart.  They were cast out of the Garden carrying the stain of sin, thus the term ‘original sin.’  Temptations could subject them to follow the wrong path.  In the Quran, Sura 5:68, there is agreement with the Bible by saying, “O People of the Book, you follow no good till you observe the Torah and the Gospel and that which is revealed to you from your Lord.”  Those chosen, and all others (gentiles, which include Arabs, etc.) were not very good at being obedient to God, even with the directives put forth.  They, we all, sin.  But in the New Testament, the Gospel, forgiveness of sins is provided all mankind.  Know and believe in Christ and you will be saved.  Muslims are called to observe the Gospel.

Reference to the Bible

The Quran says the Bible is perfect.  Sura 3:3-4 reads, “He (Allah) has revealed the Book with truth, verifying that which is before it, and He revealed the Torah and the Gospel.”  That surely suggests even Allah agrees with the Bible and calls it ‘Truth.’  In the next verse (Sura 3:4) this ‘guidance for the people’ cannot be disbelieved or there will be punishment.  The Bible is thus to be believed as is.  After all it was God’s inspiration.

Turning then to Sura 18:27, the Quran (Allah’s words shared by Gabriel to Muhammad) clearly states, “that which has been revealed to thee of the Book of thy Lord, there is none who can alter His words.”  No alterations.  The Bible is not to be altered in any way, not if Allah has anything to say about it. So why is the Quran then considered different.  We know it is not complete as sections were lost when Companions of the Prophet were killed in battle before their recall could be recorded.  There are stories also of copies, pages, destroyed, eaten by sheep or goats.  Why would Allah enable such a thing?  No one can change God’s word; God says so as does Allah.  Why would God not insure his inspired word was complete? He wouldn’t, thus we have the Bible. It is complete, inspired and the Word of God.  Want a relationship with God?  Want God to speak to you?  Then read the Bible. Both of those possibilities exist.

There is another reference, in Sura 5:47, suggesting “And let the People of the Gospel (the New Testament – Bible) judge by that which Allah has revealed in it.  And whoever judges not by what Allah has revealed, those are the transgressors.”   Note also in Sura 5:46 verification of forecasts in the Bible of the coming of Jesus as son of Mary, “and we gave him the Gospel containing guidance and light, and verifying that which was before it of the Torah….

Allah is quite revealing in the Quran that the Bible is inspired by God, and is thus truthful and the Gospel is a proper guide.  There are no errors in the Bible, but there are facts missing in the Quran.  That is understood even by the scholars of Islam who have written often how the Quran is not complete. Also there are contradictions in the Quran, from Muhammad’s time in Mecca to his time in Medina and subsequent visits to caves where revelations were received. Why would Allah allow such change, such inconsistencies, especially noted is the reference to the ‘religion of peace’ which was abrogated.  Not being complete there is much left to interpretation.

But then there is the Bible.  It is complete.  As a reference it is perfect Truth.  Thanks Be to God.

Holy Bible

Grace and Peace.
