UI – Part 303 – Can a Muslim Be a Good American?
This question was raised and answered in an email sent to me by a friend (thanks AV).
The question addresses ‘moderate Muslims’ and their understanding of Islam itself. Those that do not agree with the historical violent acts of the Muslims that helped grow the Middle East for Allah have possibly become modernized and accepting of pluralism. That is what we can hope for. In truth are they tolerant of other religions? Do they not believe in a Theocracy? Theocracies are espoused by the political Islamists. Thus are they willing to live in a sectarian society where Sharia is not the law, the Constitution is, and not become isolationists. Are they multicultural? Would they speak out against Mosques wherein hatred is preached, Sharia demanded and anti-American rhetoric is often spewed from the pulpit? Would they speak out against organizations raising funds to support Islamist causes, to include Hamas, ISIS and the likes? Do they speak out against what the world sees today as Islam straining to be recognized for what it has become in the Middle East, with the likes of Hamas, Hezbollah, the Khomeini, and ISIS proclaiming the virtues of this ideology and killing those who do not adhere properly (or not at all)? Do they accept Jews and Christians, openly? If they do, I respect them, even though I still question the ideology they follow and their complete understanding of Islam.
The focus of the answer(s) to the question is on understanding Islam itself and what it is to be a Muslim. It creates doubts as to the veracity of any Muslim, moderates especially, that live in free societies and embrace their home away from the chaos and singular ideological, theological, striving of the Middle East. These answers also shape the way many who criticize Islam think, I am guilty, and need to be addressed directly by those who claim they want to live and be part of a Country such as America, to include its values, its rule of law and its freedoms.
Can a Muslim Be a Good American?
Theologically – no… Because a Muslim’s allegiance is to Allah. Living among those who believe in the biblical God or no god at all is problematic, made more so when each day they are reminded through scripture and their scholars of the superior nature of Muslims and the need to rid the world of infidels.
Religiously – no… Because no other religion is accepted by His Allah except Islam. (Quran, 2:256)(Koran)
Scripturally – no… Because his allegiance is to the five Pillars of Islam and the Quran.
Geographically – no.. Because his allegiance is to Mecca , to which he turns in prayer five times a day.
Socially – no… Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to make friends with Christians or Jews.
Politically – no…. Because he must submit to the mullahs (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel ( the little Satan) and destruction of America (the Great Satan – terms coined by Iran’s Khomeini)
Domestically – no… Because he must resist living in a free society where sin is prevalent (we are all sinners) and be subjected to the temptations from others. The Quran allows for multiple wives (4), which may or may not be a problem. There are many cases in America where Muslims marry but one and live with other women, collecting welfare to boot, operating outside marriage laws. (Quran 4:34 )
Intellectually – no.. Because he cannot accept the American Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he believes the Bible to be corrupt. Also Islamic Laws must prevail and punishment suggested often violates the laws designed for the common good – not just Muslims.
Philosophically – no… Because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran does not allow freedom of religion and expression. Democracy and Islam cannot co-exist. Every Muslim government is either dictatorial or autocratic. Theocratic. Living in a free nation a Muslim would be reminded every day how accepting the liberties that surround is to exist side-by-side with temptations and to not be true to Islam (and thus an infidel themselves.) Peer pressure may become to great. Isolationism may ensue.
Spiritually – no… Because when we declare ‘one nation under God,’ The Christian’s God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER referred to as Heavenly father, nor is he ever called love in the Quran’s 99 excellent names.
Therefore, after much study and deliberation, what other conclusion could be drawn? Perhaps we should be suspicious of ALL MUSLIMS in this country. This is difficult as we are a welcoming and tolerant bunch. But does our tolerance, objectivity and freedoms make us weak and susceptible in the eyes of Islam? Can Muslims be both ‘good’ Muslims and ‘good’ Americans?
This Islamists’ war is bigger than we know or understand! Can a religion be evil? A ‘religion’, I contend , can be ungodly – as why is atheism not a ‘religion’, but of the NoGod variety. There is such a group, the Wiccans. The Muslim Brotherhood and its US affiliate organization, CAIR, wants to destroy America as we know it, from within and make it an Islamic Sharia compliant Country, thus changing our Constitution.
911 may have been an Alarm ringing, but how many times do we push that ‘snooze’ button before we finally Wake Up?
Islam is incompatible with Freedom. It cannot exist, at least not when the ideology and governance of their people must be as one, thus a theocracy, in a free nation. Not in Europe or the UK. And not in North of South America. Even when there are pockets of Islam within the border of a free nation problems arise. Disputes as to the Constitution of those free nations being in conflict with Islamic (Theocratic or political) Law arise and the complaints continue. If they cannot embrace the standards and history and culture of their host country then they should leave. Either leave or adapt and adopt their host nation. It may be easier to do so if Islam no longer is the religion of the emigrant, but a religion that allows for living in a free society. In America we have freedom of religion, but we do not have freedom of an ideology intended to subvert the foundation of our Nation. Changing the Constitution, even attempts to do so, for an alien Law dictated by the Scripture of Islam is seditious.
It just may be the case that a Muslim to be honest cannot be a good American.
Grace and Peace.
