Liberty Council was defending the accussed. What follows is a reprint of an update from Liberty Council – having won the first stage of this action.

Last Friday, Liberty Counsel lawyers faced off with ACLU
attorneys over the ACLU’s legal attack on meal-time prayer
in Santa Rosa County, Florida.
As I’ve been sharing with you, this Florida community was mugged
by the ACLU when two school officials dared to say a prayer
before a meal. The story has since shocked the Nation.
Well, the ACLU’s attack has already reached a third school
official — Michelle Winkler — who was charged with civil
contempt over her husband’s prayer at an awards banquet that
was privately funded and held off campus after school hours.
Mrs. Winkler asked her husband to read a beautiful prayer
blessing she wrote for the honorees… and that simple act
caused the ACLU to run to court and claim that Mrs. Winkler
should be held in contempt.
For more than 7 hours, Liberty Counsel faced off with the
ACLU in defense of Mrs. Winkler. The ACLU claimed it had a
“rock-solid case” but after our hearing, the ACLU’s case
crumbled!
The judge threw out the ACLU’s contempt claim against Mrs.
Winkler. That means, thanks to your support, Liberty Counsel
has just won Round One of this battle to stop the ACLU’s
effort to criminalize Christianity in this community.
But the bigger battles are still coming…
In less than a month, we (Liberty Council) will be back in court to defend Principal
Frank Lay and Athletic Director Robert Freeman against CRIMINAL
charges stemming from the ACLU’s attacks.
Their “crime”? Praying before a meal!
We have spread the word of the ACLU’s outrageous attempt to
criminalize Christianity in America in every way we can. We
have appeared on the Fox News Channel, CNN, and scores of
other national broadcast outlets, and will continue doing so.
We simply MUST win this case – both for the good people of Santa
Rosa County and also for every other school district in America –
but it won’t be easy.
ACTION ITEM ONE: Please pray! I am calling on your help to
“petition” the Lord that our legal team will continue to have
favor. “Round One” was a clear answer to prayer, but we must
remain vigilant!
