UI – Part 152 – Islamic Law, Islamic Religion and Common Law
By the Law
Carlos Bledsoe, on trial for killing U.S. Army recruiter William Long[i], complained of undue pressure to plead insanity: “I wasn’t insane or post-traumatic.” The killing was “justified according to Islamic laws and the Islamic religion,” Bledsoe wrote.
Justification to kill another according to Islamic Law proves a point made in blog 145 on the formation of Islamic Law (The Sahaba – Companions – on legalistic matters) and blog 144 on the Constitution, Bible, and America. Sharia/Islamic Law is not structured for the common good. Another Blog 101 discusses Sharia and the Constitution. No civil society can operate under such an insular set of standards. Islam can only be Theocratic as well as it is archaic; laws created by man, not the Creator. The whole of mankind is not included under Sharia, and that, if all facts and historical facts are considered, includes most Muslims.
The moderates, who fear speaking out, violate Sharia daily as they may question, apply rational thought, to the Quran and Islamic Law.
The fundamentalists, who react violently to the burning of a Quran as well as more simplistic issues such as a cartoon depiction of Muhammad, are murderers in (the Biblical) God’s eyes. The commandment to not kill is ignored all too often – terrorism in God’s garden. Each death to an infidel is defying God’s will. They do not repent or seek forgiveness claiming justification from a religion conspired and dictated by mortals.
Freedom
Freedom is not elusive to a Muslim; it is forbidden. As bizarre as that seems, it is fact.
Open Eyes
May the world open its eyes! May Muslims who accept pluralism, embrace freedom, and desire for themselves and their offspring a less constrained world order, remove the blinders that cover their eyes, throw away the opiates from the ulema that distort their views, and either change the worldview of Islam or find another path to follow. Many are already on a different path; proceeding in fear of the constant drone of ‘death to the apostate’ should they be honest about their true convictions.
“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness?” (Matthew 6:22-23).
God’s Light
May the light of God’s lamp shine on you.
Grace and Peace.
[i] The 2009 Little Rock recruiting office shooting took place on June 1, 2009, when Muslim convert Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, aka Carlos Leon Bledsoe, opened fire with a rifle in a drive-by shooting on soldiers in front of a United States military recruiting office in Little Rock. Arkansas in a jihad attack. He killed Private William Long, and wounded Private Quinton Ezeagwula. This is considered to be a case of homegrown terrorism. (source: Wikipedia.com)
