The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is America’s largest Muslim civil liberties advocacy organization that deals with civil advocacy and promotes human rights. It is headquartered on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., with regional offices nationwide and in Canada.
Through media relations, lobbying, and education, CAIR presents what it views as an Islamic perspective on issues of importance to the American public, and seeks to empower the American Muslim community and encourage its social and political activism. Annual banquets, through which CAIR raises the majority of its funds, are attended by American politicians, statesmen, interfaith leaders, activists and media personalities.
The organization was named by U.S. Federal prosecutors in 2007 as an un-indicted co-conspirator in a Hamas funding case involving the Holy Land Foundation, which caused the FBI to cease working with CAIR outside of criminal investigations due to its designation. An appeals court removed the label on October 20, 2010.
Mission and offices
CAIR’s mission statement is “to enhance understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding”.
CAIR’s literature describes the group as promoting understanding of Islam and protecting Muslim civil liberties. It has intervened on behalf of many American Muslims who claim discrimination, profiling, or harassment. Its stated core principles include supporting freedom of religion, protecting all Americans’ civil rights, and encouraging inter-faith dialogue. CAIR believes that “the active practice of Islam strengthens the social and religious fabric of our nation.”
CAIR is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with affiliates in 20 states (many of which manage multiple offices), and 33 chapters in the US and Canada (CAIR-CAN). CAIR and its affiliates are managed by board members from 50 American cities, and combined employ more than 70 full-time staff, serving millions of American Muslims. CAIR annual reports are available to all members and donors, as well as internet users online.

Every Reason to do us harm – “CAIR has every reason to want to do us harm…,” said IPTF (The Investigative Project on Terrorism Foundation) Executive Director Steven Emerson. “It has everything to do with CAIR’s desire to shift attention away from embarrassing disclosures about the group’s past and its ties to terrorists that we reported first and about our continuing investigations into CAIR’s activities.” In early 2009, the IPTF broke news that the FBI had cut off communication with CAIR, citing evidence in a terror-financing prosecution that tied CAIR and its founders to a Hamas-support network in America. The FBI and C.A.I.R. – In 2007, federal prosecutors wrote that “CAIR has been identified by the Government at trial as a participant in an ongoing and ultimately unlawful conspiracy to support a designated terrorist organization, a conspiracy from which CAIR never withdrew.” (See http://www.investigativeproject.org/documents/case_docs/479.pdf#page=15 )

In summary C.A.I. R. is an organization to be concerned about. They exemplify the sensitivity of Muslim extremists to anything anti-Muslim. They are organized to attack the freedoms expressed in the U.S. Constitution with a focus on Sharia Law. They support anti-West organizations that are bent on acts of violence to make their point – which is, Islam and Allah for all. Know these specifics:
· It is a terrorist front organization
· They seek to overthrow the Constitution
· An Islamist Theocracy in American is the objective
· Support for the application of Sharia Law in the U.S. is very important to them
· Founded by a member of Hamas
· Funding comes from Islamist terrorist supporting countries.
Know your detractors. Understand your rights. C.A.I.R. will most often denounce acts of concern towards the religion of Islam as direct acts of hatred towards individuals. We are free to debate, object to, and deny other religions. This is America. Hating Islam, even expressing an open concern for this religion, drawing images of Muhammad and the like are not acts of ‘hate’ to be defined as a hate crime. C.A.I.R. resists such treatment, while at the same time supporting overt actions against Jews and Christians, even those simply considered non-believers. They support the threats against cartoonists, writers, authors, journalists, and others that say anything considered negative towards Islam. Most objectionable have been images of Muhammad portrayed in a bad light, or in any fashion. This is not a crime. No one should be killed or threatened with death for doing so. TV stations such as CNN, Yale University, Washington Post, and other media outlets have already backed away from displays of images as mentioned, even those that represent controversy ripe for discussion. This is the result of intimidation. We must be protected from such actions. C.A.I.R. exemplifies intimidation.
Stand up for your Rights!!!
